Our very own hometown, fairy fight. Results for our third local event are as follows:

1st place- Alex Evangelou with A-Team
2nd place- Sean Langelier with Balias
3rd place- Kris Erickson with Anti-Narf v2.9

12PoP Event Results!

NHCRC would like to sincerely thank Rob Masek for hosting a genuinely fantastic 2 day event! The weekend was action packed with hobbyweight robots including Belladonna of Team Nar.

The 12 pound weight class resulted as follows:
1st place- Greg "Junior" Dabkowski with Sir Alos
2nd place- Al Kindle with G2
3rd place- Alan Young with Truncation

Beetles, still a fairly undeveloped weight class, proved to be nearly as exciting as the 12lb'ers. However, ants speak for themselves: we were all disappointed by the ant-weight fights...

Fairys are the new rave! This competition featured many amazing minute, high KE bots! Team member Tyler Forbes took first place with Puppy Patter, a 150g thresher type robot. (featured in photo below, with trophy)

12PoP Arena Updates!

Another weekend of vigorous yet rewarding work, and the new PoP arena is well underway. A special thanks to Team Diginati, Team Mad Cow, and Team Nar. Without you guys, the arena would still be just a vision.

This weekend, additional support members were welded into each side panel. Floor and roof were completed, and the arena was fitted for assembly once again. As you can see in both photos, the arena has a more than ample weight capacity. This upcoming week, the Lexan will be mounted, and will be battle tested.

The new arena features 10'x10' of usable playing space, surrounded by a 7 inch high C-channel to keep robots away from the 12'x12' - 9 foot arena. It is fully enclosed in 3/8" and 1/4" Lexan with a sturdy, and very level plywood playing surface. Other features will include four corner lighting, a box mic, and eventually ventalation for ICE.

Simple Machines Demo: An Educational Outreach

Our recent appearance at New Searles Elementary School was a wonderful experience. Several NHCRC members had opportunity to display and explain their robotic and physics related projects. We presented  to a group of more than one hundred  third grade children. Topics of discussion focused on simple machines. We demonstrated how they could be used in conjunction with other machines to benefit our lives. Team members even displayed the 2003 Nashua High School FIRST robot, "Cerberus" (pictured above, with member Ryan Sargent)

April 14, 2003: With somewhat of a success, and lots of good fun, the Nashua High School FIRST Robotics team returns from Houston, Texas. Highlights of the trip include intense flipping of bots on the ramp, plenty of local pawn / discount shops, and of course the HUGE belt buckles. No trip to Houston would have been complete without the large chunks of metal which barely made it through airport security.

Check back here often for a complete event report. (available Late June)

A close competition yielded the NHS FIRST team at 84th out of 300 some-odd bots. It's not too bad, but not nearly as successful as last year's 12th place position. Lets hope for better luck next year guys, let the prototyping begin!

March 13, 2003: BAE Systems FIRST Regional was a complete triumph! There was nothing more to ask for. The event was held at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, NH. It was very organized, and the judges were really friendly. The third day of the event was concluded with a wonderful sequence of entertainers provided by BAE for all of the 75+ teams which attended. Recycled Percussion made an appearance along with two wonderful comedians whom the students loved. The regional was great, and the bots were even better. We're all really looking forward to seeing them again at Nationals. For a complete event report, check out the events page.

Rally In The Valley - Lebanon High School FIRST Robotics Summer competition:

Nashua High school recently participated in the annual summer comp, and seeded number one for the day. The team of students further carried the team to a victorious second place in finals. It was the first time a group of students had entered in a summer competition without presence of a mentor or engineer. The dedicated team members showed maturity, growth, and development. They were given a chance, and they did extremely well. Excellent job!

Pound of Pain 3 was a blast! there were some very impressive bots that turned up, several of them with high KE weapons. Well done gentleman. Check out the event report.

(Pneumatic control sliding floor arena)

Motorama 2003 turned out the be one of the best events any of us have participated in. Attending the 4 day excursion was Kris, Ryan, Sean and Tyler. We drove down with a NHS FIRST alumni, and founder of Pound of Pain: Robert Masek. JB Johnson, the team's 30 pound brick bot ended up nabbing second place in the NERC Event. Tammy Dumptruck was not a complete joke, but needless to say fun to smash around. The complete event report is available from the event reports section.
